Patient Waiting (2026)

Installation

Patient Waiting describes the state of waiting for medical results. During this time, perception, bodily responses, and thought shift under conditions of uncertainty. The work uses diagnostic imaging and time-based processes to make this state visible: a loading bar alternates between sharpness and blur. Time loses its stability when reliable information is absent.

The MRI images originate from my body itself. The work intervenes directly in the DICOM data, embedding a sentence into the data structure rather than placing text over the image. This points to how thoughts, fears, and expectations become entangled with diagnostic procedures without ever being explicitly articulated.

The installation treats waiting not as a pause, but as an active condition. The body anticipates outcomes, runs through possibilities, and responds to incomplete information—parallel to the medical systems that examine it.
